Hello everyone out in Blog land. Friends and family have been suggesting I start a blog for my pottery, so here I am. It was much easier than I thought, we will just have to see how easy it will be to maintain. I just started using my photo tent and am trying to learn how to use it. I'm trying to decide if I like the black back ground or the white. I think the black is more elegant, but the white is easier to see details.
Hi Paula, we're practically neighbors aren't we? Your bowl is beautiful, is it reduction fired? I think I like the white background best, but have you ever tried a gray color? I have a graduated background I'm digging out of the packing for finished work photos, but when I take photos of my green ware I use a plain grey because the wet clay messes up the paper. I don't have a photo tent yet, and try to use natural light, I plan to get one soon though.
Linda, we are pretty close. I think it is about a 2 hour drive for me to go to Crystal River. The bowl was reduction fired from a class that I take once a week. I do electric at home and am still experimenting with mixing my own cone 6 glazes. My tent is new, just got it from e-bay for about $30. Still don't know if I like it yet.
After almost selling my pottery wheel that had been in storage for 10 years, I signed up for a pottery class. I have been hooked ever since. Pottery helps me keep my busy life in perspective.
I have been happily married for over 20 years, and a proud mother of 3, my two boys are teenagers, and my little girl is a preteen. If I have any energy left at the end of the day, I play in the mud.

Hi Paula, Beautiful bowl! Both backgrounds are nice. The black is more elegant, but the white makes the bowl shape easier to see.
